Is your child a Sporting Champion?
The school summer holidays are in full swing and most parents find it a challenge to keep their little ones entertained. Endless summer days riding bikes, building tree houses and simply being active has been replaced by the reality that kids prefer to sit inside and watch their favourite TV show or play video games. But don't despair, with the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games beginning, this year is all about getting the kid's outside and experiencing a number of new and exciting sports.
Hosting the Games is about so much more than discovering elite athletes. The challenge set by the organisers is to host a Games that will inspire a generation to discover sport and make health and fitness a daily part of their life. This means providing opportunities for all as Sally Gunnell explains: 'Lots of kids only get a few opportunities to try different sports and don't realise that they could do archery or synchronised swimming. There is definitely an Olympic sport for everyone, no matter what shape, size or ability.'
With a wealth of different sporting activities to try, it's not easy to choose the right one for your child. But now there is a quick and easy way to find out if your little one has got a hidden talent for running, archery or even synchronised swimming.
The National Lottery Dream Stats Calculator is designed as a fun way for
users to answer some simple questions based on their personal statistics
like age, weight and height, plus their general fitness and ability. The
calculator then uses a complex formula to work out which sport you and your
child might have an undiscovered talent for.
