Uniform
The current uniform is made up of blue trousers, a shirt or polo shirt, plus a sweatshirt. All beavers, cubs and scouts wear a colourful neckerchief as well. You should be able to find a local shop that sells uniform. Your pack should be able to advise you on this and also the possibility of finding cheaper, second hand uniform.
How Much Does it Cost
Fees are decided upon locally so it is not possible to say exactly how much it will cost to send a child to scouts. Be prepared to spend between £50 and £100. Collection of subs arrangements can also vary, so you may be asked to pay weekly, monthly or for a whole term.
Trips and other activities are charged on top of the normal payments.
If you find it difficult to pay for your child to attend cubs then speak directly to your local Section Leader.
Activities
Although a large emphasis is placed on having fun and making friends there is an educational program that underpins activities. This program is broken down into the following areas: Outdoor and Adventure; Global; Community; Fit for Life; Creative; and Beliefs and Attitudes. At all levels children are encouraged to complete tasks and earn badges.
All scouts are insured to take part in activities under the scouting Personal Accident and Medical Expenses Policy.
Scout Camp
One of the big attractions of scouting is going away to camp. In addition to traditional camps scouts can also attend new activities centres around the country.
Sign Up Now
At the time of writing there are 30,000 children on waiting lists waiting to join beaver, cub and scout packs up throughout the U.K. Therefore it is advisable to enquire about waiting lists in your area as soon as you can. It may be worth trying cub groups a little further from your home if the nearest pack is full to overflowing.

Helping Out
More children could be enrolled in scouting if more parents stepped forward to help out. By stepping forward and joining in you will be helping more children to enjoy scouting.
