Child Locate

Child locate is an innovation allowing parents to locate the whereabouts of their children using mobile phone technology.

How the service works

Register for the service using the link at the bottom of this article. After registration add the mobile phone numbers you wish to track, this will send a text message to the phone you have entered and a reply of Yes from that phone will allow you to track the device.

To locate the mobile phone you wish to track you simply text Find (name of your child) to 60066 and the location will be text back to your phone.

Example

Send
"Find Sally" to 60066

Receive
"Sally is in the area of Newbury train station, Station Road, Newbury. (Accuracy 100m @ 13:22, 25-June-2006)"

After registration you can also use your PC to send text messages to each phone number you have registered.

The service costs £1.34 per week for a Family pack allowing 5 numbers to be registered. With this service you receive -

• Free connection
• 25 Free annual locations
• Unlimited text messages from 7.5p a message
• Location text from 22.5p

System Accuracy

Location information is generally much more accurate in urban areas than in rural areas. In urban areas you can expect accuracy between 150m to 400m. Suburban areas vary between 450m to 2km and rural areas can give accuracy anywhere between 1.5Km and 9Km.

Currently child locate are offering a free 30 day trial allowing you to locate 10 times for free.
