Baby's PlayPlace Review

The Baby's PlayPlace is a new concept for a baby gym/activity mat from Bright Starts. It differs from other baby gym's in that it has quilted sides to keep your baby on the mat.

The play mat takes about 5 minutes to put together for the first time. First impressions are that the mat feels soft and good quality with plenty of padding.

The 4 sides of the mat can be easily lifted to entirely enclose your baby and each side can be indivdually opened. As a baby starts to roll this mat comes into it's own, how many times do you need to put your baby down somewhere safe whilst you pop to the loo or answer the door? well this mat will allows you do that.

The mat itself is brightly couloured and provides tactile stimulation with crinkle flaps for the baby. Two toy bars are supplied for hanging the toys overhead and there are another 10 toy loops on the side walls of the gym. The loops on the side walls are excellent for helping younger babies who are on their tummies to reach their toys.

A total of 9 toys are supplied, all can be hung from the overhead bars or from the wall loops. The toys include a water-filled teether, a spinning rattle ball Lady Bug, a plush caterpillar and an electronic lighted lady bug. The Lady bug has a Melody mode and a Nature sounds mode, it also features a Motion mode which activates the music by movement or clapping. The Lady bug also has a mirror with flashing lights and requires 3 AAA batteries which are not supplied.

The Baby Place is supplied in a vinyl bag that can be used to store away when not in use. The only unfortunate thing about the storage is that you need to remove the inner plastic section from the outer walls before it can be stored, it will take about a minute to re-assemble each time.

The mat can be washed using cool water and a mild soap.

The Bright Start Baby's PlayPlace is an excellent product and I believe a young baby would be stimulated and safe using it. With the mat's ability to create an enclosed area I think it could be used by your baby for a greater time than a conventional playmat.

The Baby's PlayPlace retails at £69.99. Visit here to purchase: Mothercare
