Time to stop knocking the young
The government claims it is time to start investing in rehabilitating Britian's youth and to end the perception that the majority of teenagers engage in anti-socail behaviour.
Mr Miliband said: "I think one of the things we have to do as a government is talk about young people in a much more positive fashion. We have to give a much more accurate impression of the vast majority of young people who do the right thing in society, and want to make the most of themselves."
He added: "Good youth services can expand people's horizons, but we have not invested in youth services for 40 years. It has never been a top priority."

| Perception of Youth On Saturday my young son entered a small paddling pool area of the local park that was fenced in. To my shame he kicked a bottle that was on the edge of the pool into the water. I saw a young boy (maybe 10/12) follow him into the pool area and I looked on to make sure my son was ok. The young boy went to the bottle picked it up and put it in a bin. I thanked him and reprimanded my son. I did not expect the young boy to behave in such a responsible way and it was great to witness. Anyone else been suprised by the positive behaviour of a child recently? | |
