Starring UK Kids and Nickelodeon’s biggest names!

Nickelodeon UK is proud to announce that ‘Nickelodeon’s See Something, Say Something’ in partnership with Anti-Bullying Week 2007 and ChildLine will be back on Nickelodeon from Monday 19th November - for it’s second year as part of the UK’s biggest anti-bullying initiative.

Nickelodeon’s See Something, Say Something aims to:

Educate kids about the facts of bullying and offer advice about dealing with it Empower them to speak out if they see someone being bullied or are a victim of bullying themselves Unite kids against bullying.

Every month over 4 million kids tune into Nickelodeon and over 1 million young people visit the official websites. To celebrate the week long event, Nickelodeon’s See Something, Say Something will include the broadcast of 27 short films throughout the day between top rating Nickelodeon programming, including SpongeBob SquarePants and Drake and Josh.

The short films will be made by Nickelodeon’s BAFTA Award winning in-house production unit. The films will star UK kids talking candidly about their successes against bullying along with famous Nickelodeon actors Emma Roberts from movie Nancy Drew and TV series Unfabulous, Josh Peck (Drake and Josh), Devon Werkheiser (Neds Declassified) and the stars of smash hit series Genie in the House and H20 - all supporting See Something, Say Something. The films will also include ideas for kids to create their own simple in-class anti-bullying week activities (such as crafts and games), through to useful tips for reporting a bully or supporting a friend who might be experiencing being bullied. Additionally, a special ‘See Something Say Something’ ChildLine film will detail the free phone number and explain how the service works.

Nickelodeon’s See Something, Say Something will also be supported by a dedicated website, including anti-bullying videos, downloads and activities – and for the first time ever, a website link to the official ChildLine website from www.Nick.co.uk. This service is for kids who require immediate expert help and advice.

The initiative will appear on-air and online in synchronization with the UK’s official Anti-Bullying Week in schools from Monday 19th November – Friday 23rd November. Anti-Bullying Week in schools is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance; the umbrella organization behind leading children’s charities including Beat Bullying and NSPCC ChildLine.

As the number one commercial kids’ TV network with a huge and devoted audience, Nickelodeon believes the campaign will be enormously effective in dealing with the crucial and ever-present issue of bullying, which will affect nearly all UK kids in some form across their childhood.

Howard Litton, Managing Director, Nickelodeon UK said, “See Something, Say Something is a very important campaign for Nickelodeon - and one we’re extremely proud to be returning for a second year with the Anti-Bullying Alliance and now ChildLine too. In 2006 millions of kids tuned in and logged on to See Something, Say Something to learn more about preventing bullying, giving kids the confidence and information to help make a huge and positive difference against bullying. Last year ChildLine counselled over 160,000 children, and the most calls – over 23% - were about bullying. That shocking statistic underlines the importance of our anti-bullying campaign”.

To launch the November campaign and assist in raising further funds for ChildLine, Nickelodeon will be co-hosting this year’s ChildLine Ball in celebration of the charity’s 21st birthday, which is supported by the See Something, Say Something campaign.

The ChildLine Ball in partnership with Nickelodeon and supported by See Something, Say Something will be held at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on Thursday 15th November 2007. Guests will be treated to an outstanding auction with a multitude of money-can’t-buy prizes, such as VIP tickets to the famous Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in LA and exclusive passes to a Paramount Pictures London premiere.

ChildLine Founder and President Esther Rantzen CBE said: “It’s wonderful that Nickelodeon is supporting ChildLine in such a generous way. The money raised from the event will help ChildLine answer more urgent cries for help.”
