Activity Village Review
My son's school were running an International Week and my father-in-law and I had agreed to speak to his class about India. For my father-in-law, growing up in Bangalore all he had to do was reach into his memory bank and talk about his childhood. I had no knowledge at all and was faced with the task of coming up with some India related activities for a class of 6 year old boys and girls.
After my initial panic I Googled the subject and found www.activityvillage.co.uk within minutes I had printed off the Indian flag, Diwali word search and a Rangoli pattern for the children. Job done!
Whilst researching the subject on Activity Village. I even found out that Chess originated in India you could print off a chess board and start playing immediately, how cool is that?
I mentioned the website to his teacher and she told me that it is a lifeline for her and a valuable resource bank.
I have since introduced the site to my parents so that when the children stay they can print off age and gender related activities which keep them amused for hours!!
Of course that is just the tip of the iceberg. It is impossible for me to mention all the benefits so I have listed below my highlights of the website to date!
- . Huge selection of themed colouring pages and bookmarks.
- . Extra-curricular activity planner - invaluable!
- . Easy to follow origami
- . Seasonal activities.
- . Education and Parenting Library sections.
- . The whole site is so easy to navigate
The best thing to do is really find out for yourself, you will wonder how you have managed without it!!!
