Boys in Public Bathrooms

Posted by: Sister2Sister South Lanarkshire Posts: 1

At what age do you think it's appropriate for young boys to stop using Women's Public Bathrooms?
There seems to be a fine balance between to old to go in to women's toilets, and too young to be going into the men's by themselves.

My son is 8 and I just asked his opinion. He told me that he would go in the mens loo's on his own and would never go into a womens loo. His faced actually told me the answer! His answer makes me feel uncomforable and to date public toilets do not have a great reputation. The jury is out for me and I will make my decision when the time comes and I can judge the situation there and then.

There is no ideal age, but I certainly think an 8 year old boy is old enough to go into a public toilet by himself. In my view as soon as a boy says he wants to use the men's rather than ladies its time to let him.

Obviously there are some toilets that don't look all that pleasant and I might hesitate to use those myself. But there are plenty in shopping centres etc. that should be perfectly safe to use.
