Days Out

Thorpe Park - Days out in Surrey

Thorpe Park is 20 miles from central London and is close to the town of Chertsey.

If you travelled to the attraction by car is adequate parking provided by the attraction?
Lots of parking, Free.

If you travelled by public transport, how long did it take to reach the attraction from the bus/train station?
It is about a 10 minute bus ride from Chertsey.

What was the cost for you and your family to enter the attraction?
12 and over £24. Under 12 £16. Family of 4 £69.

Please briefly describe the nature of the attraction (zoo, farm etc)
Theme Park

How "buggy friendly" is the attraction?
You can push a buggy around. Areas of the park do get very busy though.

Is the attraction mainly outdoor or indoor? If outdoor, what indoor activities (if any) are available during bad weather?
It's an outdoor place. There are water rides so a bit of rain is not that much of a problem.

Can the attraction be enjoyed by all ages of children? If not, why not and what age is it best suited for?
Yes, but I would say teenagers are likely to have the best time.

Can food be purchased at this attraction?
Yes. You have chains such as Burger King.

Did the attraction cater for differing tastes i.e. Vegetarian, healthy food option?
Never tried, but they do sell sandwiches and there is probably something there for the more health conscious.

Are there facilities for people wishing to bring a picnic to the attraction?
Yes you can bring your own food, although I wouldn't say it was particularly picnic friendly.

Did you find the toilet facilities clean?
Yes.

Do you feel it is possible to see the whole attraction in one day?
Yes, but queues can be very long.

Are there other attractions or activities to pay for in addition to the entrance fee (other than food and drinks)?
Yes there are arcades and various games.

What was the highlight of the day?
I like Nemesis, but there are plenty of thrilling rides to choose from.

From your experience, what advice would you offer to other visitors of the attraction?
Be prepared to queue!

What areas would you suggest visitors make sure they experience, and why?
Any selection of rides that suit you. There is a good selection to choose from. Tidal Wave guarantees the perfect soaking and I try to leave this until late in the day.

What improvements could be made to make the attraction better, if any?
More fast track passes. These allow you to queue for less time. You can book rides, but they add to your cost for the day. Unlimited fast track passes cost an extra £40 per person. There have been days when I have gone there and found the queues absolutely horrendous and left. As an annual pass holder, living locally I was able to do this. If I had bought a day ticket then I would just have to have suffered the queues. Annual membership is good value - £285 for a family of 4.

Overall what are your feelings about the attraction?
It's the best theme park I've been to in the U.K. for teenagers. There are plenty of rides to choose from and some really sort out just how brave you are.

Please rate this attraction out of 5 stars. (1 is poor and 5 is excellent). Please consider if you are rating a Zoo/Farm type attraction, take into account the apparent care of the animals as this would and should be a primary concern for the running of the attraction. For example the standard of the facilities for visitors at one of these attractions would probably not be the same as in a theme park.
5 stars

Finally, do you have any other information about the attraction that may be of interest to future visitors?
No.
